Pathology and blood tests at Emerald Medical Centre

If your GP orders a blood test or other pathology, you don’t need to travel. Melbourne Pathology has a collection centre right here at Emerald Medical Centre, so you can often have your test done straight after your appointment.

Collection centre hours
Monday to Friday: 8am – 4pm
Saturday: 8am – 12pm

Walk in or book: you can walk in during opening hours, or book a time online with Melbourne Pathology (you’ll need an Australian mobile number). You can also call the collection centre on (03) 8532 7044.

What to bring: your pathology request form from your doctor, plus your Medicare card.

Getting ready: some tests need you to fast or to be done at a certain time of day. Your GP will tell you if your test needs any preparation.

Cost: most tests covered by Medicare are bulk billed. Some tests aren’t covered by Medicare and may have a fee. If you have any questions or concerns about costs, please speak directly to Melbourne Pathology on (03) 8532 7044.

Your results: results are sent straight to your GP. Your GP will tell you how you’ll hear about your results, and will arrange a follow-up appointment if needed.

Melbourne Pathology also offers ECGs and Holter monitors (24-hour heart monitoring) at the clinic. See our ECG page.
